Disaster Alert: November 19, 2020

A major locust infestation began in October and affected several towns. including Bati, Kobo, Woldiya, Sefi-Beret, Abay-Atir, Shoa-Rabit and Maychew. Locusts destroyed sorghum and teff crops, which affects the majority of people in the communities as they are all reliant on farming. The chemicals used to stop the infestation were not effective and now there is an extreme food shortage and fear that the infestation will spread to neighboring areas. In addition. COVID-19 has added to the difficulty families are facing. The Child Development Centers are assessing impact and will provide impact records as they can.

Please pray for the provision for beneficiaries and families affected by destroyed farms and the food shortages.
