On May 3 2023, torrential rains caused flooding in the western and northern provinces of Rwanda. To date, 401 participants and 8 Child Development Centers (CDCs) have been impacted by the flooding. Over 5,000 homes were destroyed. Families whose homes were destroyed or located in disaster-prone areas were evacuated and given temporary shelter in school buildings or other shelters. The CDCs were also able to provide food kits, basic household items and cash transfers. The Compassion Rwanda National Office is monitoring the situation and planning the best way to assist families with long term recovery and repairs. Please rest assured that we will notify you as soon as possible if your child is affected in any way.

Please pray for all participants, their family members and CDC staff members as they recover from the flooding.
