In total, 145 beneficiaries were affected. The affected families were supported with basic items and home repairs. Life is now back to normal for most of them. Those families with destroyed homes or homes needing major repairs will be supported utilizing Crisis Intervention funds.

Update #1: June 22, 2020

Due to COVID-19 restrictions reporting of impact has been delayed, as home visits to ascertain impact are limited and most families do not have phones. So far, 145 beneficiaries have been affected. The Compassion Tanzania National Office staff and Child Development Centers are supporting all affected families.

Please pray for the affected families as they cope with the losses and damages.

Disaster Alert: May 10, 2020

Heavy rainfall and flooding in western Tanzania damaged many homes and household items in the districts of Nzega, Bariadi, and Busaga. Currently, no beneficiary impact details are available yet; however, beneficiaries from five Child Development Centers (CDCs) have been affected. The CDCs are assessing damages and providing immediate relief with food and temporary shelters. Beneficiaries and their families are living with relatives and neighbors.
