Thankfully, the heavy rains have ended, and there is no more flooding in Jigiga Town, Ethiopia. A total of 37 beneficiaries and their families were affected. They received assistance from the Child Development Centers, as needed.

Update #2: Septemner 24, 2020

The Child Development Centers and Compassion Ethiopia National Office staff are continuing to monitor the situation and assess impact. No additional beneficiaries have been affected. The National Office staff is requesting additional disaster relief funds.

Update #1: September 8, 2020

So far, 37 beneficiaries have been affected. The Child Development Centers plan on purchasing food, beds, mattresses, and other livelihood items with Crisis Relief funds and distributing them to affected families.

Disaster Alert: August 31, 2020

Torrential rainfall caused flooding in the southeastern town of Jigjiga, Ethiopia. The flooding damaged homes, destroyed household items and ruined food supplies. The Child Development Centers located in the area most severely affected are assessing impact to beneficiaries.
