April, 26, embodies Compassion’s vision to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. She grew up as a shy participant in a child development center in the Philippines. But she grew into a role model and leader, facilitating Bible studies and praise music for other children at her center.

Now, a human resource specialist for a leading international firm in her hometown, April is grateful she’s able to provide for her family. Thanks to her sponsor’s and her center staff’s support, poverty no longer limits her future.

Today, April is preparing to give the same type of help and hope she received: she’ll be leaving soon on her first missionary assignment! April will serve children and assist with medical missions.

“I am excited to be able to pay forward all the blessings and benefits I received as a sponsored child,” she says.

Join us in prayer for April as she begins her missionary work.
