Compassion Regional Rep

A Regional Rep is a volunteer for Compassion who helps to facilitate events across the United States. These volunteers are experienced with Compassion events, knowledgeable about the ministry, and passionate about giving their time to support the ministry.

Yes, the Regional Rep role is a volunteer position.

Due to travel regulations with rental cars and hotels, all Regional Reps must be 21 by the start of the Regional Rep season. Regional Reps must live within the United States. All Regional Reps must be able to provide proof that they are authorized to legally drive in the United States.

Applications will be accepted twice a year during recruitment campaigns (spring and winter). However, the position openings are dependent upon the specific needs of regions. Application exceptions outside of the two regular seasons will be made on an as needed basis.

After submitting an online application, all eligible applicants will complete an automated video interview. Selected applicants will be scheduled for an additional interview with Compassion staff.

The turnaround time is dependent upon the number of applications received during the season. Communications will be made regarding the timeline once the process is in motion.

Regional Reps may work a variety of small to medium sized events for Compassion. Regional Reps will not be required to plan any events. They will serve as the on-site facilitator for events that have already been planned and scheduled by Compassion staff. Regional Reps will partner with Compassion staff to help execute the scheduled plan for the event.

The event opportunities for Regional Reps occur year-round and the frequency varies depending on the scheduling of small to medium sized local events.

Regional Reps will assist with event setup, volunteer training, and event facilitation throughout the duration of the event. Once the event is completed, Regional Reps will fulfill any necessary post-event tasks.

Each Regional Rep will be equipped with the latest information about Compassion’s ministry, event procedures and the basics of facilitating an event from start to finish. Trainings may occur in a variety of formats, such as documentation, zoom calls, videos, etc. Training and coaching will be an ongoing process for the Regional Rep as procedures change and updates occur.

All required travel expenses are covered by Compassion. This may include a hotel, and rental car in the case of events beyond the one-hour driving distance. Other expenses are reimbursable after the fact including mileage or gas. Food expenses will be taken care of through a per diem payment dependent on the length of the event. Regional Reps are encouraged to travel with two forms of payment to cover any on-site needs, and in the rare circumstances that the Regional Rep needs to cover the cost of a hotel or rental car.

In most circumstances, only one Regional Rep is needed per event. Travel expenses for spouses or children who choose to accompany the Regional Rep will not be covered by Compassion. These circumstances should be discussed on an individual basis with the Regional Rep manager.

The Regional Rep position is a yearly commitment by a signed volunteer agreement, background check and motor vehicles record (MVR) check. The role is renewable yearly, dependent upon conversations with Compassion staff.

The volume of events a Regional Rep will work is solely dependent upon event needs and location. While most events occur on the weekends, some events may occur mid-week. A Regional Rep is responsible for managing their personal schedule when requested for an event. The final decision to work an event is at the sole discretion of the Regional Rep once the opportunity has been presented to them by Compassion.

Compassion is participating in events that are deemed appropriate by local authorities and will align with their mask and social distancing requirements for our staff and volunteers. When there is not a specific masking requirement, Compassion encourages, but does not require, those who are not vaccinated to wear a mask. Regardless of requirements, we will continue to provide PPE (masks and sanitizer) for reps and volunteers who need or choose to use them. Regional Reps are equipped and trained on COVID-19 related safety and protocols.
