“My Father God’s essence is faithfulness, and He showed me that virtue in the midst of my family’s brokenness through Himself and through my sponsor.”

A Gift of Faithfulness

“My Father God’s essence is faithfulness, and He showed me that virtue in the midst of my family’s brokenness through Himself and through my sponsor.”

When I was 9 years old my mother found out that my father was in a relationship with another woman and that they had two little children. After she found out, my father decided to leave Ecuador and move to Europe. He left us alone. It was very difficult as a daughter living without her father.

While I was feeling alone and not important, my teacher from Compassion International came out of nowhere, running toward me, and told me: “Nikyta, your sponsor sent you a letter!” She was so happy, and so was I!

When I opened and read the letter, I read some of the most encouraging words that I had ever received in my life: “I am praying for you.” When I read that, my eyes broke into tears. I received hope! Hope that one person on the other side of the ocean was thinking about me, was praying for me and was interested in me!

My sponsor, Kim Post from New York, showed me faithfulness. She came to visit me four times in total! She visited me in Ecuador two times while I was in college and one other time on a short-term mission trip to the church plant that I was serving in as a missionary a few years later. The last time that she visited me was for my wedding day! God is so good!

What faithfulness I received from her all these years! She is a blessing in my life! Even though she didn’t know me before, she decided to love and believe in me and to be faithful to me through her letters, financial support, visits and love.
