She will be graduating from her Compassion program in the Philippines in less than a year. Maricris recently lost her sponsor. That happens for many reasons, but most often it's because a sponsor's financial circumstances change for the worse.

As she attends college and studies for a career in information technology, Maricris also faithfully attends her weekly Compassion center class, and she is a church leader who volunteers to teach younger children in Sunday school, including her 4-year-old student, Jandell, who is also receiving benefits while he waits for his own sponsor.
