Compassion International and Lifeway are partnering together to help girls disproportionally affected by the Global Food Crisis.
For the first time in 25 years, we’re losing the war on poverty. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the global poverty rate - people living on less than $1.90 a day - rose for the first time since 1998, increasing child marriages, child labor, and hunger. Food insecurity has doubled to 276 million in the wake of natural disasters, the Russia-Ukraine war, and supply chain issues and the world is experiencing the most severe food shortage since World War II. Children — specifically girls - in poverty are the most vulnerable and hardest hit. Mothers are facing impossible decisions: if there isn’t enough food for the family, which child goes hungry? Who can be married off early? Who can drop out of school early to earn another income? In Togo, Sri Lanka, and Ethiopia the situation is especially dire.
Lifeway is stepping into the lives of girls living in areas devastated by the Global Food Crisis so they can plan their futures instead of weddings and experience hope rather than hunger.
Your $43 a month provides your sponsored girl with nutritious meals, medical care, education, community support, discipleship through the local church - and Hope! In Jesus’ name, she will not grow hungry, she will not marry too young, and she will not drop out of school to toil and labor in support of her family.
Please sponsor a girl disproportionally affected by the Global Food Crisis. If you took home a Compassion child packet from Lifeway you can start your sponsorship today. To select a new child and sponsor today, start in the section below.
