How We Work

All vulnerable children, youth and adults deserve access to education, medical care, employment opportunities, economic prosperity and representation. With these needs met, they can more effectively break the chains of poverty in their lives.

Compassion is actively increasing its efforts to ensure girls and children with disabilities have the access and opportunities they need to thrive. This effort, which includes hiring program design specialists at all levels, and the following are critical parts of our strategy to weave opportunity and access for vulnerable populations into the fabric of our work.

• Conducting opportunity and access studies: These studies provide critical insights into the state of equal access and social inclusion within our organization. The findings have been instrumental in shaping future directions for Compassion on gender equality and disability.
• Breaking down barriers that hinder equal opportunities: Compassion empowers girls through education and helps children with disabilities gain access to support and vocational training.
• Building partnerships: We’re actively partnering with organizations to implement opportunity and access initiatives. For example, we partner with Tearfund to address sexual and gender-based violence by equipping staff and local church partners with tools to help communities prevent violence and integrate needed interventions.
