12-year-old Ayelin talks with her friends

“I always wondered why I was different,” says 12-year-old Ayelin (center), who was born with albinism, a lack of pigmentation in the skin, hair and eyes. Isolation and ridicule were Ayelin’s way of life … until she was registered in a local church’s Compassion center, where she learned that she was created in God’s image. She says, “I felt special for the first time,” adding, “I would like to tell all boys and girls that if they feel alone and rejected, they should know that God created them unique and special, and God never makes mistakes.”
