Yorith, a 7-year-old in Colombia

“I do not want to wake up in the morning,” says Yorith. She doesn’t say that because she is dreading a new day but because she has a new mattress. Before, the 7-year-old slept on a worn-out, infested mattress. Sleepless nights and painful bug bites made her life miserable. Although she begged for a new mattress, her family couldn’t afford one. But Yorith’s misery turned to joy when she learned that a sponsor’s special gift to her Compassion center enabled the staff to purchase items the children needed. For Yorith, it was a brand-new mattress! Now she says, “I do not want to stop sleeping — it is soft and comfortable.”
