Abdoul is dressed in traditional Fulani clothes

The pride in Abdoul’s smile is unmistakable. Pictured here wearing the traditional dress of Burkina Faso’s Fulani tribe, Abdoul looks after his family’s sheep when he is not in school or at the Compassion center run by his local church. “I love to shepherd my parents’ sheep like King David in the Bible,” he says. “When I look after them, I need a stick, a straw hat, a raincoat and a calabash water cup.”
