7-year-old Afomiya at her home in Ethiopia

Since pandemic restrictions were mandated in Ethiopia, Compassion-assisted children, like 7-year-old Afomiya, have been stuck at home. Afomiya misses her friends and normal life. But she has been amazingly resilient, finding joy in small things, such as spending more time with her mother and older brother. Her brother tells her jokes, helps her make paper airplanes and plays games with her. Afomiya also loves hosting pretend coffee parties, serving make-believe coffee to her favorite guest — her mother.
