Like moms all over the world today, Maideth knows that good hygiene — especially frequent hand-washing — is essential to protecting her children from getting sick. But in her impoverished Colombian community, running water in the home is only a dream. Rising to the need, the Compassion center her daughter Rosa attends helped Maideth and other caregivers construct simple hand-washing stations using suspended plastic jugs. “Now,” Maideth says, “we can have clean hands.”
