How We Help These Precious Children

Children who live in extreme poverty rarely receive the treatment and medication they need when they’re hurting, simply because their family cannot afford it. But inadequate or inaccessible healthcare is the underlying cause of millions of deaths in the developing world each year. We know of one little girl in particular living with a cardiac abnormality who needs heart surgery to recover. She and many others like her need your help!

When you give you provide children with broken hearts the ability to be kids again. Compassion staff are empowered through your donations to immediately respond when a child needs medical attention, taking care of medical assessments and pre-surgery review, echocardiograms, and the cost of surgery.

Your donation will help these precious children receive surgery to mend their broken hearts, giving them a second chance at life. Will you help fix the heart of a child in need?

Health

Many heart health abnormalities can be treated with some improvements, but children will never fully recover without surgery.

Opportunity

After given heart surgery, these children will be able to be a child again, focusing on education and play instead of heart health.

Security

Parents with children in need of medical help often cannot work because the child needs constant support. By donating, you provide the opportunity for parents to financially support their families.

When you give, you help provide more success stories like this

Mary, a seven-year-old girl from Ghana, was born with a congenital heart defect called patent ductus arteriosus, which kept her from playing with friends or participating in many of the activities at her Compassion-assisted child development center. In fact, she struggled to attend the center at all and was frequently absent from school, often causing Mary to feel alone and isolated.

But because of donor commitment to helping child in desperate need, Mary has made a full recovery! On May 29, 2018, she underwent a life-saving operation and is now an active, healthy and happy young girl.

"I am so happy I was able to have the surgery," says Mary, with a big smile on her face. "Now I don’t feel sick anymore. I can go to school just like my friends, and I can even run around and play sports with them too." Thanks to the commitment of donors like you, Mary is looking forward to a future filled with hope and opportunity.
