Jesus mends the brokenhearted. Help us do the same.

Children living in poverty who have serious heart conditions often lack the help they need to survive. Hopelessness sets in when they don’t have the support required to heal. But with your help, we can get them the urgent medical care they need for their wounds while introducing them to Jesus, the one who mends their hearts.

How We Help These Precious Children

Children who live in extreme poverty rarely receive the treatment and medication they need when they’re hurting, simply because their family cannot afford it. But inadequate or inaccessible healthcare is the underlying cause of millions of deaths in the developing world each year. We know of one little girl in particular living with a cardiac abnormality who needs heart surgery to recover. She and many others like her need your help!

When you give you provide children with broken hearts the ability to be kids again. Compassion staff are empowered through your donations to immediately respond when a child needs medical attention, taking care of medical assessments and pre-surgery review, echocardiograms, and the cost of surgery.

Your donation will help these precious children receive surgery to mend their broken hearts, giving them a second chance at life. Will you help fix the heart of a child in need?

Your support helps children like Aren.

Aren, a vibrant boy from Indonesia, was diagnosed with heart disease at just five months old. Over the next five years, his condition worsened. Aren was unable to play his favorite game, soccer, and his father would often carry him to school as he would quickly run out of breath.

With his family unable to pay for his treatment, Aren’s Compassion center stepped in, covering his needs and those of his mother for travel expenses, lodging and living expenses.

After traveling by ship for eight hours, Aren received his first heart surgery. Aren and his mother then traveled 30 hours overland by bus to another city for his second surgery. After 2.5 months of recovery, Aren was declared healthy. And now, he enjoys playing soccer with his friends and has big hopes for his future.

“As parents, our only wish is for our child to be healthy, and this would not be realized if there was no Compassion to help.” — Imelda, Aren’s mother
