Frank Davis Lewis Jr.

Frank Davis Lewis, Jr., 72, of Lanark Village, Florida, went to be with his Lord on July 31, 2025. He was the first-born son of Frank Davis Lewis and Jean Chewning Lewis. Dave is survived by his two siblings and their spouses, Elizabeth Lewis "Betsy" and George Gruber and Beecher Chewning and Rene Lewis, by nieces and nephews David Hurdle Gruber, Frank Lewis Gruber, George Lewis Gruber, Anna Haley Lewis, Beecher Best Lewis, and by seven grand nieces and nephews, many Lewis and Chewning cousins, and by many close friends who were like family to him. As he walked through life, he drew a close circle of friends and family.

"Dave," as he was called from birth, was born July 25, 1953 in Tallahassee, Florida, but spent most of his youth in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Sandy Springs High School, graduating in 1971, where he developed many friendships, friends who are still among his closest today. He graduated from Georgia Southern College in 1976, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Many "brothers" from ATO treasure his friendship still.

With a degree in Business Administration, Dave entered his professional career at General Electric. His interest in Law and Financial Planning drove him to obtain a Law degree from Woodrow Wilson College of Law in 1983 and a Certified Financial Planning Certificate in 1990. He worked in real estate law for many years. Later in life, after moving to Lanark Village, he began to work in his most fulfilling calling. He worked as a Health Aide and mentor to boys in the Franklin County school system. He truly cared about these young men and developed close relationships with each of them. His family was pleasantly surprised to learn that Dave sponsored three children in Central and South America through Compassion International. In reading letters to Dave from these children, it's clear his support is having a profound positive impact on their lives.

While living in Lanark Village, he developed many additional friendships in the area that he cherished greatly. One of his nephews commented that he "never saw Dave irritated or angry." That, and his fun-loving spirit, drew others to enjoy being with him. Dave was genuinely laid-back and loved just spending time with family and friends in most any setting.

Dave loved the beach, loved fishing with his high school buddies, collecting coins and stamps, and he loved reading - especially the Bible. Many Bibles, religious and devotional books, and journals were found in his home, and most were opened to the favorite pages he had been enjoying. He had dozens of notebooks where he wrote verses and made notes and comments on how his Savior wanted him to live his life. He loved to talk about Jesus, his Lord and Savior, and it is so comforting to his family and friends to know where he is now.

Dave passed to be with Jesus while at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital on the morning of July 31st. He was surrounded by many family members, and by several of his close long-time friends (via phone) in his last moments. His loving care, generous spirit, laid-back demeanor and wonderful sense of humor are going to be greatly missed by those who love him so very much.
