On October 29, 2022, a tropical storm hit the coast of The Philippines near Leyte and Quezon. The storm damaged many homes and buildings. To date, 12 Child Development Centers (CDCs) and 156 Participants have been impacted by the storm. The CDCs were able to utilize Disaster Relief Funds to immediately provide affected families with food and hygiene kits and to assist them with finding temporary shelter. As of today, the local government and other aid organizations have been able to help 24 families rebuild their homes. The CDCs are still working on repairing their damaged facilities and are hoping to make the needed repairs in the near future.

Disaster Final Report: October 29, 2023

As of October 29, 2023, the affected families and Child Development Centers (CDCs) in Leyte and Panay have recovered from the tropical storm. To date, 12 CDCs and 255 Participants have been impacted by the storm. All affected families have receive immediate relief assistance such as food packs and hygiene essentials and have been given school supplies so the children and youth participants can continue schooling. The local government and other aid organizations have aided in repairing damaged houses, and the families have settled in their houses. The government also provided seedlings and planting materials and cash assistance to affected families as part of recovery assistance. Some families have underwent a self care after trauma seminar led by CDC staff, church leaders, and volunteers from a local hospital. The CDCs have repaired all their damaged facilities and supplies have been replaced.
