On August 1, 2023, heavy rain caused the Moei River to overflow in the Tasongyang District of Thailand. The overflow caused houses to flood and a landslide. Some families have been moved away for their safety. To date, 12 participants have been impacted by the flooding. Thankfully, everyone is healthy. There is still a consistent rainfall, but the Child Development Center (CDC) has already provided affected families with relief items like food and drinking water. The Compassion Thailand National Office is actively monitoring the situation as it unfolds.

Disaster Update #1: August 30, 2023
As of August 30, 2023, continuous rain in the Tasongyang District has caused additional flooding. Many homes and paddy fields were damaged. To date, 179 participants have been impacted. The Child Development Center (CDC) has been collaborating with local authorities to provide essential support for the affected families. They will also be utilizing Disaster Relief Funds to repair the homes of the affected families and provide emergency food kits.

Disaster Final Report: October 19, 2023
As of October 19, 2023, the flooding from the Moei River has subsided. In total, 179 participants were impacted. Thankfully, everyone is healthy. Families have returned to their homes. The Child Development Center (CDC) provided affected families with relief items such as rice, cooking oil, eggs, soymilk, beans and noodles. Families have returned to their daily activities and are working on their home repairs.
