Disaster Final Report: Flooding in Surakarta, Indonesia - March 28, 2023
As of March 2023, the floods have subsided in Surakarta, Indonesia. In total, 60 participants and seven Child Development Centers (CDCs) were impacted by the floods. Thankfully, all participants are healthy and safe. The CDCs were able to provide families with basic needs and replace school supplies that were lost or damaged by the flood. Families have since resumed daily activities.

Heavy rains caused the Bengawan Solo River to flood in the city of Surakarta, Java, Indonesia. The flooding caused road closures and damaged many homes in the area. The Compassion Indonesia National Office is currently monitoring the situation and evaluating the impact the flooding made to participants and the Child Development Centers (CDCs). Please rest assured that we will notify you as soon as possible if your child is affected in any way.
Please pray for the floodwaters to recede and for the health and safety of all participants and CDC staff members.
