January 25, 2023

As of January 25, 2023, the flood waters have receded. In total, 565 participants and six Child Development Centers (CDCs) were affected. Thankfully, all impacted participants, families and CDC staff members are healthy and have returned to their homes. The CDCs in the affected communities have worked with the local government and utilized Disaster Relief Funds to provide impacted families with items such as meals, groceries and medicine. All six CDCs have been able to resume regular program activities.

Thank you so much for praying for all of the families who were impacted by the flooding.

On December 29 - 30, 2022, heavy rains in Semarang and the north coast of Java caused flooding in Semarang City and Comal. So far, 500+ participants and their families have been impacted, as well as 50 Compassion Development Center (CDC) staff. Most of the impacted participants and CDC staff continue to live in their homes while others have moved to temporary shelters provided by the local government. Most CDC activities are on hold during this time. The CDC staff are distributing food supplies, medicine, and even making the public kitchen available to provide meals as needed. They are also prepared to provide household items such as blankets, tarps, school supplies, etc., depending on what the individual situations require.

Please rest assured that we will notify you as soon as possible if your child is affected in any way. Please pray for peace, protection and provision for the affected participants, their families, and CDC staff.
