Earthquake in Jayapura

As of February 24th, the earthquake and its after-effects have subsided substantially. Families have returned to their homes and have started making repairs. In total, four participants and one Child Development Center (CDC) were affected by the earthquake. Thankfully, all participants and their families are healthy. The CDC plans to resume normal project activities on February 28, 2023 as they continue to monitor the needs of the affected families.

On February 9, 2023, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake hit Jayapura City, Papua, Indonesia. So far, four participants have been affected. Thankfully, the participants and their families are all currently safe and healthy. The Child Development Center (CDC) has been collaborating with the Compassion East Indonesia National Office to monitor the situation and asses the needs of the affected participants.
