Update #1: September 19, 2022

Currently, Hurricane Fiona is passing over the northern and eastern part of the country, bringing with it strong winds and relentless rain. It’s estimated that affected communities will see 4-8 inches of rain. Flash floods are expected.

Compassion staff members on the ground in the Dominican Republic are trained to assess and provide appropriate and timely support.

Once the hurricane subsides, staff members will assess the impact, and we will hear if there are affected children. If your sponsored child is impacted by this storm, we will let you know as soon as we find out.
