Severe weather associated with the tropical depression in El Salvador has dissipated. In total, 86 beneficiaries were affected in eastern, central, and northern El Salvador. Child Development Centers (CDCs) successfully provided basic relief items and recovery support to impacted beneficiaries and their families.

Disaster Alert: Tropical Depression in El Salvador - September 10, 2021
On September 10, 2021, heavy rainstorms impacted both the eastern and central areas of El Salvador. Affected areas include Tecoluca and Jiquilisco. Mud slides and flooding rivers have caused damage to homes and household items. To date, 85 beneficiaries have been affected. Child Development Centers (CDCs) are providing basic relief items and support. Severe rainstorms and flooding are expected throughout the coming week. Local government agencies are taking precautionary measures regarding dams and water systems and will evacuate people if the need arises. The Compassion El Salvador National Office will continue to assess the situation and provide updates as they become available.

Heavy rainstorms continue in the eastern and central areas of El Salvador and are now impacting the northern part of the country. Mud slides and flooding rivers have caused hundreds of people to evacuate. To date, 86 beneficiaries have been affected. Child Development Centers (CDCs) are providing basic relief items and support. Government agencies have set up temporary shelters for affected people. The Compassion El Salvador National Office will continue to assess the situation and provide updates as they become available.
