Disaster Alert: Heavy Rains in Northwest and Central Regions - August 10, 2022

To date, 101 participants and their families have been affected by landslides and floods due to heavy rains and winds in the Northwest and Central departments of Urabá, Córdoba, Magdalena, Bolívar and Meta in Colombia. None of our participants have been displaced because the risk is minor, thankfully.

The local Child Development Centers (CDCs) have provided food for the affected families, helped with cleaning their houses and have provided spiritual support. The Compassion Colombia National Office has used disaster relief funds to provide water, hygiene kits and household essentials (kitchen utensils, stoves, mattresses, sheets and blankets). The families were also sent materials to repair their houses (tiles, cement and sand), as needed.
