Disaster Alert: Heavy Rains and Flooding in El Salvador - June 22, 2022

On June 16, 2022, alerts throughout El Salvador were issued due to heavy rains and flooding caused by a low-pressure system. This low-pressure system turned into Tropical Storm Celia causing heavy rainfall, flash flooding, and risk of mudslides across the region. Many homes were damaged or destroyed. To date, it has been reported that 94 participants and their families have been affected. The local Child Development Centers (CDCs) are providing basic relief items to impacted families. The Compassion El Salvador National Office will continue to assess the situation and report updates as they become available.

Please pray for affected participants and their families as they begin the recovery process.
