The Compassion Bangladesh National Office approved emergency funds and the local Child Development Center (CDC) is helping families make permanent repairs to their homes. Also, the damaged roof at the CDC is being repaired. In total, 128 participants and their families were affected. The impacted participants and their families have returned to their normal life.

Update #4: May 2, 2022

Child Development Center (CDC) staff continue to visit affected families to verify their needs. So far, 125 participants and their families have been affected as well as one Child Development Center (CDC). Most families have made temporary repairs to their homes and avoided the need to relocate. The impacted CDC is facilitating limited activities due to roof damage. Activities are being held outside when the weather permits. The Compassion Bangladesh National Office will continue to provide updates as they become available.

Update #3: April 28, 2022

The Child Development Center (CDC) staff have visited affected families and have found that some have already repaired their homes because the hail damage was minor. The CDC will work with the Compassion Bangladesh National Office to disburse funds to families that need assistance repairing their homes.

Update #2: April 26, 2022

On April 22, another hailstorm impacted Khamarsenua. In total, 131 participants and their families have been affected as well as one Child Development Center (CDC). Homes have been damaged and crops have been destroyed. The Compassion Bangladesh National Office is assessing the situation and will report updates as they become available.

Update #1: April 20, 2022

The Compassion Bangladesh National Office disbursed funds for families to purchase supplies to make permanent repairs on their damaged homes. In total, 95 participants and their families were affected as well as one Child Development Center (CDC). Families are living in their homes and have returned to normal daily activities.

Disaster Alert: April 19, 2022

On April 10, 2022, a hailstorm caused damage in Khamarsenua, Bangladesh. Many homes were damaged due to the hail. So far, 95 participants and their families have been affected as well as one Child Development Center (CDC). The CDC helped families make temporary repairs to their homes so that they would not need to relocate. The Compassion Bangladesh National Office is working on disbursing further funds for more permanent repairs to be done on damaged homes.
