Final Report – March 15, 2022

Hurricane Grace affected a total of 1,632 beneficiaries and their families as well as 28 Child Development Centers (CDCs). Most families lost household items and their homes were damaged. The CDCs assisted in repairing homes and provided basic relief items. All affected families have returned to their homes and daily lives.

Thank you for praying for the affected beneficiaries, their families, leaders, and CDC staff.

Disaster Update: September 7, 2021

Assessment of the impact of Hurricane Grace continues, and several areas are still inaccessible due to road closures. Power outages and mobile phone outages have hampered communication. To date, 1,159 beneficiaries and their families have been reported as affected as well as 22 Child Development Centers (CDCs). The storm damaged roofs and caused loss of personal and household items. Compassion Disaster Relief funds have been made available to assist in recovery efforts, providing material for temporary shelters and other needed supplies.

Please pray for the beneficiaries and their families as well as leaders at the CDCs and staff that God will provide strength as recovery efforts continue.

Disaster Alert: August 24, 2021

On August 20, 2021, Hurricane Grace made landfall north of Veracruz, Sierra de Veracruz and Puebla, Mexico. Heavy rain and wind damaged houses and caused the loss of personal property. There is no electricity, which has hampered communication to the area. The Child Development Centers are assessing impact to beneficiaries and their families, but specific information is not yet available.
