About Compassion International

Compassion International shares the hope of the gospel in word and action, releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name. We care for vulnerable children — mind, body and soul — with programs delivered through local churches in their communities.

What We Do

We believe children living in poverty should experience the fullness of life Jesus promised them (John 10:10). But to make this possible, we must restore the health, hope and opportunity that poverty has stolen from them.

Through child sponsorship, Compassion equips over 8,000 local churches in 29 countries to know, love and protect vulnerable children living in their communities. Together, we share the love of Jesus with each child and provide for their right-now and long-term needs.

We care for children by:

How We're Different

Jesus’ love inspired him to care for the sick, feed the hungry and share the gospel. Following in his footsteps, we’re also compelled to be love in action, introducing children living in poverty to eternal hope as we meet their urgent needs.

We don’t just talk about the love of Jesus; we actively share it in tangible ways. Our programs are:

Christ-centered: Jesus is at the center of everything we do, so every child in our program hears the gospel and sees it in action through local church pastors, volunteers and sponsors around the world.

Church-driven: We empower local churches in impoverished communities to serve children in need. These churches become consistent sources of light and hope, representing Christ, making disciples in their communities and caring for children as they grow.

Child-focused: We care for each child’s unique right-now and long-term needs. Given the care they need, children become thriving followers of Jesus, transforming their families, communities and nations.
