The Problem

More than 295 million people are affected by food insecurity due to conflicts, extreme weather and economic shocks, according to the 2025 Global Report on Food Crises.

These crises are worsening in 10 countries where we work, leaving children vulnerable. We estimate at least 115,000 Compassion-assisted families will need relief to survive.

Emergency food distributions, temporary shelter and support to improve long-term food security are essential to protecting children’s health and safety. This work is especially critical for displaced children — a growing need in Haiti, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia— who are relying on support from our church partners to simply survive.

2 million

children in Burkina Faso are currently displaced due to instability.

1 million

children in Ethiopia suffered from acute malnutrition in 2024 due to drought.

28%

food inflation rate in Haiti has pushed over half the country into crisis levels of food insecurity.

Your Contributions Are Stewarded Wisely

Every gift you give through Compassion is handled with integrity and care. We follow strict financial guardrails to ensure accountability, transparency and the flexibility to invest wisely for long-term impact.

We invest every dollar in one of three ways

  1. Implementing our program today

  2. Inviting the next child (and their supporter) into the program

  3. Sustaining and enhancing our ability to deliver excellent programs

These investments are typically referred to as “Program,” “Fundraising” and “Administrative” expenses, respectively. Compassion’s rigorous annual strategic planning and budgeting process determines the resources allocated to Program, Fundraising and Administration. Our policy is to ensure that 75 to 82 cents on the dollar will always be allocated to Program expenses.
