Ididiya and Tirunesh Are Thriving

Little Ididiya is growing stronger every day!

Ididiya is thriving thanks to the care of her loving mother, Tirunesh, and the support she receives from Compassion Nurturers like you. Your support includes food kits with healthy ingredients delivered to their homes and nutrition classes that help Tirunesh fuel her little one’s growth.

Now that Tirunesh isn’t solely focused on finding their next meal, she can turn her attention to building for the future. With the help of the savings group at the Nurturers center, she’s planning to start a small poultry farm in her backyard. She’ll use a loan to buy ten healthy chicks, which will grow to provide consistent food and income for her family.

Her hard work will ensure her family stays nourished for years to come!

Zertihun & Barnabas Update!

Zertihun, 18, is now a full-time employee at a shoe factory in Sebeta. She’s doing a great job of balancing the demands of the industry with the joys of raising her son, Barnabas. After the initial challenges of young motherhood, Zertihun has successfully entered the workforce, demonstrating the stamina and maturity of a woman twice her age.

She is using her factory wages to save enough to return to school. Her goal is to finish her last year of high school, refusing to let her academic potential be sidelined by her circumstances.

The Nurturers center at the local church partner continues to provide the critical childcare and nutritional support for Barnabas, allowing Zertihun to focus on her shifts. In partnership with Compassion, the church plans to provide Zertihun with seed money to help her start a small business. That way, she will be close to her son and, at the same time, save for next year's education.

By this time next year, Zertihun plans to give her schoolwork her full attention, moving one step closer to the diploma that will change her family's trajectory forever.
