This year at IF:Gathering we want to give you the opportunity to speak hope and the truth of Jesus into the life of a woman overseas who is caring for her baby while living in extreme poverty, through our ministry partner Compassion International.
In case you’re not familiar with the work of Compassion, Compassion International works in 25 countries around the world to help release children from poverty in Jesus’ name, in partnership with the local church. They also come alongside mothers and caregivers, as early as conception, to encourage, train and equip each woman to care well for her child despite her circumstances. By intervening within this early, critical timeframe, Compassion works to prevent unnecessary deaths among pregnant mothers, newborns and infants in poverty, giving little ones the best possible chance to thrive. Compassion walks with each woman and child on all levels, including physical, spiritual, and socio-emotional.
When you sponsor a mom and her baby for just $43 per month, your sponsorship provides both the woman and the baby (ages 0-4) with:
- Clean water, healthy food, and vitamins
- Access to medical assistance including prenatal care, skilled birth attendants, immunizations, regular health screenings and medical treatment as needed.
- Home visits, parenting workshops, and monthly growth monitoring.
- Infant cognitive support through a local church, trained and equipped to assist children in poverty.
- Spiritual formation and mentoring.
- Vocational training.
- Social-emotional support.
