In Memory of Sharon Maness
Sharon’s heart was dedicated to Christ, with a strong desire for everyone, especially children worldwide, to know Him. She believed in practical, hands-on missions rather than just offering good wishes.
Recognizing her limitations, she taught Sunday school, led CEF backyard parties, and supported those who could go out and be the hands and feet of Jesus globally. Compassion International was one such organization that aligned with her vision. They don’t just provide handouts but work alongside children and families, helping them escape poverty and understand God’s love, while inviting sponsors to engage through notes and prayers.
Over the past 30 years, Sharon’s sponsorships have seen children grow from young to graduation, some entering and leaving the program, and forming connections with those who share a birth month with her biological children. These were her “kids,” whose pictures adorned her home, whom she prayed for daily, and whose notes she cherished. Her passion for Compassion led her to establish legacy giving and encourage others to get involved.
If sponsoring a child isn’t possible, she urged people to contribute whatever they could to Compassion’s mission. Whether a one-time or recurring gift, every contribution helps advance the mission and brings more families to Christ in a meaningful way. Thank you!
