Compassion Survival: Lifesaving Care for Moms and Babies
Moms and babies living in poverty are highly vulnerable to malnutrition, disease and even death. Compassion’s Survival program ensures both moms and their little ones have the care and support they need to thrive.

Protecting the Vulnerable During the Most Critical Stage of Life
Pregnancy is hard. But for moms living in poverty, pregnancy and birth are especially scary and risky. Many moms must carry and deliver their babies without nutritious meals, medical care and other necessities.
Sadly, this can lead to dangerous delivery complications, malnutrition and preventable diseases that hurt both mom and baby. Babies in poverty are too often the victims of infant mortality. Globally, 4.8 million children under the age of five died in 2023 alone.
Through our Survival initiative, Compassion steps in to offer the critical care moms and babies need to survive and thrive.
From Survival to Sponsorship for Ongoing Love and Care
Through Compassion’s Survival program, moms and babies have the care they need to reach one of life’s biggest milestones: baby’s first birthday. At this time, they can be sponsored by someone like you!

Your Donation to Survival Helps Moms Like Lydia
Living in an impoverished community in Kenya, Lydia often missed her medical checkups because of a lack of funds for transport. And a lack of income meant Lydia and her husband struggled to provide for their growing family.
But through the Survival initiative, Lydia received medical care through free mobile clinics and home visits. And the gift of a maternity kit provided Lydia and her new baby with diapers, clothes and other essentials.
“It gave me hope that I could provide for my baby.” — Lydia
