We’re here with answers.
Here are some frequently asked questions about Compassion Sunday and Compassion International.
We have a dedicated team of church specialists who can talk to your church and pastor on your behalf. You can reach them directly by emailing [email protected].
While we encourage you to host in your home church, sometimes that’s not a possibility. Compassion Sunday can work well in other settings like Bible studies, small group meetings, Sunday school classes, school classrooms, book clubs or any other group.
No problem. You can choose a date that’s right for you and your church. Talk to your pastor about what weekend would work best for your church and then register your event.
As many as you can! Of course, it depends on the size of your church, but we’ve found that on average five children get sponsored at an event. The main thing to remember is to leave all the results up to God. We need to do our best and fully trust Him to work.
Once you register your event, we’ll send you an Event Kit in the mail. The kit has everything you need for a great Compassion Sunday at your church. It includes posters, a tabletop display, information sheets, child packets and an instruction guide with a helpful event checklist. Plus, it’ll have one of the new Compassion Sunday T-shirts!
Place the acceptance forms and payments in the prepaid FedEx envelope supplied with the Event Kit. Fill out the address label and contact fedex.com for a pickup, or drop the package off at the nearest FedEx location as soon as you can after the event.
Yes! Simply email us at [email protected] or give us a call at 888-503-4585. We look forward to working with you to customize your event to meet the needs of your church.
Yes! At the end of your presentation, encourage your audience to text LOVE to 83393 to sponsor a child
It has been impacted, quite dramatically. Compassion Sunday was originally scheduled for April 26, a time when most states were under stay-at-home orders and there were restrictions on group gatherings. Since Compassion Sunday happens in churches, almost all originally scheduled events had to be cancelled. Each year, we register thousands of children in anticipation of Compassion Sunday. It is our largest event each year (normally over 10,000 kids are sponsored!). And if we’re being totally vulnerable, the cancellation of many Compassion Sunday events has been devastating
This is why we moved the new date of Compassion Sunday 2020 to September 13! We hope you will join us!

Please be assured that Compassion staff, both at the Global Ministry Center and around the world, is closely monitoring developments. Our top priority is preventing the transmission of the coronavirus among the children we serve. Because of that, we have suspended all travel to national offices and child development centers in an effort to do everything we can to limit the additional spread of the virus and reduce strain on the already-taxed medical systems in the countries we serve.
We are grateful to report that the staff at Compassion centers around the globe regularly teaches children about hygiene and disease prevention — especially hand-washing! As widely reported in the news, this is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of coronaviruses and COVID-19.
