Miriam Alegre Antezana is a strong, dedicated young woman. She lives in Palo Alto, California, where she works as a nanny and attends Cañada College. She is pursuing a nursing degree as her desire is to work in the medical field, serving children with special needs.
Raised in a large family in Cochabamba, Bolivia, Miriam was enrolled in Compassion’s child development program through the local church they attended. When she was 7 years old, her father passed away. Because of her sponsorship, not only were her physical needs met during this challenging season, but she also felt carried by the love and grace of God who met her in her heartache.
After high school, Miriam’s participation in Compassion’s leadership development program awarded her the opportunity to attend university. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from Colegio Evangélico Suecia in Cochabamba, Bolivia, before moving to the USA through an au pair program.
Miriam enjoys speaking to college students and women’s groups about her personal journey, the impact one person can make in the life of another and advocating for those less fortunate.
