Steeve is the first in his family to have a birthday party — and what a celebration it was!
His four older siblings never got to taste birthday cake until now. Their parents, Nathalie and Bernard, worked tirelessly just to put food on the table.
“I always wished we could celebrate our children’s birthdays,” Nathalie says. “But with our limited resources, and honestly because we didn’t understand the importance of celebrating, we thought birthdays were only for wealthy families.”
Through your faithful support, Steeve gets to celebrate this important day. But it’s not just a party. It’s a reflection on where he’s been and where he’s going. So many kids in Burkina Faso never reach this milestone — but Steeve is thriving thanks to you!
“Celebrating Steeve’s first birthday fills me with joy and thanksgiving,” Nathalie says. “I’m proud and hopeful for his healthy growth. I can’t wait to see what God has planned for Steeve, and I know it will be good because of the caring people in the Nurturers program.”

Now that they see the importance of birthday celebrations, Nathalie and Bernard have committed to celebrating their children’s birthdays each year, no matter their financial situation. Hope has changed their perspective.
“By celebrating first birthdays, we celebrate life, health, and God’s protection over the most vulnerable children in our community,” says Lea, a staff member at the Compassion Nurturers center. “Your support of the Nurturers program saves babies and mothers.
