About Child Sponsorship

Millions of children must fight to survive through hunger, exploitation and hopelessness. But through child sponsorship, children receive the care they need to conquer the challenges of poverty and achieve freedom in Jesus’ name. Sponsorship transforms children’s lives, empowering them to transform their families, communities and the world.

What Is Child Sponsorship?

Child sponsorship means donating monthly to a child living in poverty and encouraging them through messages and prayer. Your monthly donation equips a local church to share the gospel in word and action by fulfilling a child’s critical needs, from medical checkups to education.

How Child Sponsorship Fights Child Poverty

Child sponsorship fights poverty by meeting a child’s spiritual and practical needs. With their needs met, they have what they need to journey out of poverty. What does this look like in action?

  • The good news of the gospel helps children understand their value and see beyond their circumstances, freeing them from the hopelessness of poverty.

  • Medical care and malnutrition monitoring ensures children can play, grow and develop as God intended.

  • Education assistance inspires children to reach for their dreams and learn to provide for themselves.

  • Child protection keeps kids safe from devastating trauma.

  • Steady encouragement from pastors, volunteers, staff and sponsors ensures children feel known, loved and protected.

Through child sponsorship, children get the consistent care they need to be healthy, strong and confident, empowering them to leave poverty behind. Children grow up to be self-sufficient adults who raise their own families in freedom. And they can become leaders in their communities, helping others leave poverty behind too.

Why Sponsor a Child With Compassion?

Child sponsorship is different at Compassion. When you sponsor a child through our program, you’ll actively share the love of Jesus in tangible ways, releasing a child from poverty in his name. Our program is:

Christ-centered

Jesus is at the center of everything we do, so every child in our program hears the gospel and sees it in action through local church pastors, volunteers and sponsors around the world.

Church-driven

We empower local churches in impoverished communities to serve children in need. These churches are constant sources of light and hope, representing Christ and making disciples in their communities.

Child-focused

We exist to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. As children grow into thriving followers of Jesus, they can transform their families, communities and nations.
