Disaster Alert: December 9, 2021

After assessing the situation, we discovered that no children, child centers, or staff were impacted by Indonesia’s Mt. Semeru volcanic eruption. Praise God!

Mt. Semeru erupted on Saturday, December 4, blanketing portions of East Java with hot ash. Indonesian officials are currently reporting 22 deaths and dozens missing. In villages surrounding the volcano, there is widespread damage to homes, and many have fled to makeshift shelters offered by the local government.
