Children in Compassion’s program are not only uplifted by a Christ-centered community, but they are also equipped to support themselves, maintain a relationship with Christ and thrive in their community, even after they graduate.
Celebrating Graduation
Graduation is a milestone to celebrate. It marks the moment when the child you sponsor is ready to step confidently into their next season of life — equipped with skills, faith and hope for the future. While it can feel bittersweet, there is great joy in knowing they have been shown Christ’s love and are prepared to live it out beyond the program.
Graduating With Goals
Compassion’s program is designed with goals that help prepare children to flourish within their families and communities. Each child works toward:
Experiencing the love of Christ in their lives.
Supporting themselves and sharing with others in need.
Being responsible members of their family, church, community and nation.
Maintaining their physical well-being.
Alongside these broad goals, children are encouraged to set personal ones. Local church staff walk with each child to create a plan and take practical steps toward achieving them.
Graduating With Hope
After graduation, many children have stronger social skills, a higher level of education and are equipped to support themselves financially. These opportunities often open doors for further education, rewarding careers and the chance to enrich the lives of their families and communities.
“I was a poor boy from a cold, faraway, mountainous community. I look back, and I cannot believe I have made it this far!” shares Aldo, a Compassion program graduate who earned an international business degree with the help of a college scholarship through his local church.
Graduating With a Legacy
Many Compassion graduates go on to partner with Compassion and serve at local centers and churches, creating lasting impact in their local communities and the next generation of sponsored children.
After graduating from the Compassion program, 25-year-old Jhoel was able to pursue his dream of attending culinary school. Compassion continued providing spiritual mentorship during his studies, and Jhoel now serves as a volunteer at his local center.
“The biggest contribution from the center in my life – aside from all of the support I received – is a spiritual legacy. It’s a treasure,” Jhoel shares.
Through sponsorship, you can create a lasting impact in the life of the child you sponsor and their community. Even after graduation, the seeds planted through consistent care, spiritual encouragement and education continue to bear fruit for generations to come. We are so grateful for your partnership in releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.
