“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” — John 1:5, NIV
Darkness often surrounds children living in poverty. Last year, floods swept through villages, conflicts broke families apart and hunger caused aching bellies in far too many homes. But it’s in the dark where the light of Jesus shines the brightest.
In 2025, our 72nd year of ministry, Compassion shone the light of Christ into the darkness of poverty, delivering life-changing hope to millions of children in need.
See How the Light Broke Through in Numbers
In 2025, Compassion International grew into new communities to reach even more children. This year, we served 2.4 million children across 29 countries.
330 new Compassion centers opened their doors, welcoming in 137,731 more children.
Through your support and the work of the local church, these children received the hope of the gospel and care for their needs.
15,500 children received life-saving surgeries and critical medical care.
Over 324,000 families received emergency aid and care after disasters.
More than 69,092 mothers and babies received care during the critical first year of life through Compassion Survival.
68,583 young men and women stepped boldly into the future God has for them as they graduated from the Compassion program.
58 churches and communities gained access to clean water, serving thousands of children and families.
412,230 food packs were delivered to children and families facing extreme hunger.
The Dedicated Supporters Behind Our Growth & Impact
The above impact isn’t possible without all of us, together, moving as the hands and feet of Jesus. This year, we were blessed to witness so many people working together to reach those in desperate need of hope.
1.67 million supporters around the world, including child sponsors, helped us equip local churches to care for children in need.
Over 9,000 local church partners across 29 countries delivered love, care and the hope of the gospel to the millions of children we serve.
Over 100,000 volunteers globally came together to walk alongside children as they journey out of poverty.
In addition, thousands of Compassion alumni served as mentors and leaders, helping children overcome poverty just as they did. We also partnered with many artists and influencers, from Christian musicians to professional football players, shining the light of Christ to new audiences and inspiring thousands to sponsor.
The Light Shines and the Darkness Has Not Overcome It
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33, NIV
Poverty is dark, and the troubles these children face may seem hopeless. But we know that the light of Jesus overcomes. This year, while millions of children received practical care to meet their needs, from medical checkups to food packs, they also encountered him.
These children heard the good news of the gospel, many for the first time. And they experienced this good news in action as they received hands-on, practical care.
Now, with eternal hope in their hearts, their needs met and people walking alongside them, they have what it takes to become thriving followers of Jesus — empowered to transform their families, communities and nations. They’re equipped to overcome.

What’s Next for Compassion?
In 2026, we plan to bring hope to even more children, releasing them from poverty in Jesus’ name.
In 2026, through the help of our supporters, we plan to open 270 new Compassion centers and welcome 17,000+ new children into our program.
We’re working hard to expand into Malawi, Zambia, Cambodia and Myanmar while also seeking ministry opportunities in other countries. Please join us in prayer for 2026 and beyond as we work to bring the light of Jesus to new communities in need.
Last year’s impact is proof that while the darkness may be great, the light of Jesus, shining through all of us, is greater still. And thanks to our supporters and the dedication of the local church, that light reached millions. We can’t wait to see what God has in store for us next.
