Vice President of Church & Influencer Partnerships

Steve Jones

Steve’s career spans more than 30 years of inspiring national thought leaders to speak on behalf of children in poverty. He first joined Compassion in 1994 as the west region manager of volunteers.

Two years into his work, Steve helped develop and build a strategy for event-based marketing, partnering with churches, artists, speakers and live Christian events.

As a member of a large church in Salem, Oregon, he brought in Rich Mullins to perform at the conclusion of their missions week, where more than 100 children were sponsored. This event ignited his passion for uniting the local church to meet the needs of children living in poverty around the world.

Steve has overseen the artist team, the New Church Initiative Program and the Event Volunteer Program. He also played a key role in the marketing development of the Survival Program and the AIDS Initiative.

After spending 15 years leading the artist and influencer area — tripling acquisition growth in the artist channel — Steve was promoted to vice president of church and influencer partnerships in 2021.

Steve is known for cultivating future leaders within the organization, leading many productive and healthy teams during his time at Compassion. His work has helped establish Compassion as a leading name in the Christian and gospel music industry.

To date, his teams have joined God in securing sponsors for 1 million children.

Steve and his wife, Patricia, live in Vancouver, Washington. They recently became first-time grandparents and love having their three daughters and their husbands nearby.

Steve is passionate about ministry in his local church and serving as an advocate for Compassion. He enjoys backpacking, skiing with his family, biking and reading. He also has a passion for cooking a good meal for friends who come to visit.
