Cows

Emelyine lives with her mother and three siblings in Rwanda. She lost her father when she was 4 years old. This left her widowed mother and sisters destitute, especially in a community that assigns women very little value, let alone opportunity. However, because of supporter gifts like yours, specifically the provision of cows for the family, Emelyine and her mother now feel empowered as they are able to support themselves and the family. They learned to rear the livestock and then create their own small business and financially care for their family by selling the milk to the community.

“There are a lot of things a girl can do that will make everyone proud. With collective support, we will go places,” says Emelyine’s mother.
