About Us Releasing Children From Poverty
in Jesus' Name

"Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done."
- Proverbs 19:17

We are Child Focused. We Value the One.

A young girl with straight long brown hair stands against a red and blue wall.

Our ministry is focused on the individual child and his or her development. We are unashamedly and singularly focused on developing children.

Each child we serve is ministered to personally, and each church partner we work with tailors its programs to meet the specific needs of the children in its community.

Embracing children is at the heart of who we are. We are advocates for children in poverty. And we commit to developing minds, bodies and spirits — in Jesus' name.

Our Mission

"In response to the Great Commission, Compassion International exists as an advocate for children, to release them from their spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enable them to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults." (Our mission statement expanded and explained.)

Our History

What started as one man’s act of compassion for South Korean war orphans in 1952 has transformed into a worldwide ministry that is releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

Our Leadership Principles

We aspire to be more like our Savior, Jesus Christ, in who we are and what we do. We commit to these leadership principles in ever-increasing measure.

Our Photography

We work hard to portray the dignity of the poor in our imagery. We view the poor through Jesus’ eyes. Our pictures of poverty do not focus on the brutality of the conditions. They are meant to show the dignity and hope which live within the poor despite the oppression poverty inflicts upon them.

Our Blue Corner

We want to communicate our brand in a global visual language, above and beyond our logo, that is not hindered by language or other cultural barriers.
