Francisco J. Batres was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, and has served on Compassion International’s Board of Directors since 1998. He received his Bachelor of Science and his Master of Business Administration from the University of San Carlos in Guatemala. He is fluent in Spanish, speaks conversational Italian, and has a good understanding of Portuguese.

Jean-François Bussy, General Director

Born in Versoix, Lake of Geneva, Switzerland, Jean-François joined Compassion International's Board of Directors in June 2008, as a Limited Director representing Compassion Switzerland. He attended Continental Theological Seminary in Brussels, Belgium, and graduated with a B. A, B. Th, and a minor in music.

Dr. Judy Briscoe Golz, Secretary

Dr. Judy Briscoe Golz was born in Kendal, England. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology from Wheaton College, and received a master's degree and doctorate in community psychology from New York University. She joined Compassion International's Board of Directors in September 2004.

Ronald C. Mathieu was born in Oakland, Calif., and joined the Compassion Board in February 2008. He has degrees from the University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College, where he taught courses in literature.

Laurent Mbanda, Vice Chairman

Mbanda became a part of the Compassion International family in 1993, where he held several different positions in the ministry, including the Vice President of Africa Region. He also serves on the Board of International Justice Mission (IJM), and chairs the Board of Kigali Institute of Education, Rwanda.

Wesley K. Stafford was born in Chicago, Ill., and has served on Compassion International's Board of Directors since 1993, when he became Compassion's President. He received a diploma from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill., a bachelor's degree in communications (magna cum laude) from Biola University in La Mirada, California, a master's degree in communications from Wheaton College Graduate School in Wheaton, Ill., and a doctorate in education from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich.

Karen Wesolowski, Chair

Karen K. Wesolowski was born in Appleton, Wis. She received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and a doctorate of law from the Marshall-Wythe Law School at the College of William and Mary, where she was executive editor of the Law Review.
