Final Report: December 23, 2021

Heavy rain, flooding, and strong winds are no longer causing issues in the North-western, Northern, Central, and Western provinces of Sri Lanka. In total, 2,534 beneficiaries and their families and two Child Development Centers (CDCs) were affected. Child Development Centers (CDCs) provided impacted families with dry food rations, clothing, household items, sanitary items, and building supplies.

Update #1: December 1, 2021

Heavy rain showers continue in the North-western, Northern, Central, and Western provinces of Sri Lanka. Additionally, flooding and strong winds have impacted some areas. Families with damaged homes have relocated to temporary housing or are living with relatives. To date, 2,529 beneficiaries and their families and two Child Development Centers (CDCs) have been impacted. CDCs have provided impacted families with dry food rations, clothing, and household items. The Compassion Sri Lanka National Office will continue to assess the situation and provide updates as they become available.

Disaster Alert: November 3, 2021

On November 3, 2021, heavy rain impacted widespread areas of Sri Lanka. Areas impacted include North-western, Northern, Central, and Western provinces. Some areas have seen flooding due to the heavy rain accumulation. So far, 2,073 beneficiaries and their families have been impacted and two Child Development Centers (CDCs). CDCs are assisting with temporary relocation and providing emotional support to impacted families. The Compassion Sri Lanka National Office will continue to assess the situation and provide updates as they become available.
