Bruce Ybarra

Member Since 2023

Before joining the Compassion International Global Board of Directors, Bruce retired from a 26-year career in the U.S. Air Force, serving airlift transport and logistical needs for the military as a pilot in four different airframes. During his career, he was responsible for coordinating global White House operations and logistical support for the President, Vice President, First Lady and all White House-directed travel. He also served as the 15th Presidential Pilot and Commander of Air Force One.

Through his many years serving overseas in humanitarian, contingency response, wartime and diplomatic support capacities, Bruce was provided with invaluable firsthand opportunities to witness the deep need for hope around the world. After coming to faith through the modeling and encouragement of his high school mentor, Bruce is passionate about engaging and encouraging young people in their faith journey.

Bruce loves coaching and serving in numerous capacities at his church and in his community, as well as serving his children’s schools and their activities. He is also a board member for the Special Air Missions Association at Joint Base Andrews.

After sponsoring Compassion children of their own since 2012, Bruce and his family are humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve Compassion’s global workforce, supporters, churches, and participating children and their families in this mission of releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

Bruce and his wife live in Bee Cave, TX, and have five children.
