Sponsor a Child

Sponsor a child today and transform despair into hope.

When you sponsor a child, you can exchange letters, photos and prayers.  You can even choose to visit the child you sponsor.

You can change a child's life from one of hardship and loneliness to one of hope and meaning.  You have the opportunity to literally bring the love of Christ to a child in need.

Compassion's ministry to children in need is unique.  Our Child Sponsorship Program is:

  • Church Based. Compassion is the only child sponsorship organization that works exclusively with local churches in the developing world.

  • Christ Centered. Our ministry gives every child in our program the opportunity to hear about Jesus Christ.  Our church partners report that last year alone, 146,455 first-time child professions of faith were reported for the twelve month period of October 2010 – September 2011.  .

  • Child Focused. Each child has one sponsor, someone like you, who exchanges letters, photos and prayers and provides necessities like food, health care and educational opportunities.

  • Committed to Integrity. We're dedicated being good stewards of the gifts that are entrusted to us by our faithful donors.  Compassion was founded in 1952.  Currently, more than 1.2 million children in 25 countries have been sponsored through Compassion's Child Sponsorship Program -- and this number is growing every day.

Your support of about a dollar a day can change one child's life forever.  When you sponsor a child, you can give a boy or girl in need:

  • Educational opportunities

  • Improved health care

  • Life-skills training

  • Sponsored children will also have the opportunity to follow Jesus Christ in faith and deed as part of their spiritual training.

Sponsoring a child through Compassion allows you to witness a miracle firsthand, following your child's growth as as he or she is nurtured to health, educated and exposed to the gospel of Jesus Christ.  At Compassion, we say that nurturing a child, connecting that child to a local church and having someone like you in a child's life is the most strategic way to make a difference in the life of a child in need.

Each child deserves the hope of Jesus Christ.  Will you give one child that blessing?  Will you sponsor a child?

Give a child hope for the future and for all eternity. Sponsor a child today!

Heart to Heart

I believe God put this on my heart. I was a poor child right here in the U.S. I know what it is like to go without a meal and to pray at 7 yrs old for God to help my family. I am humbled to be able to help another child, to renew their spirit in Jesus, to put hope in their heart from my heart. Let us see His children through His eyes! Thank you, God Bless.

What a blessing to sponsor a child!

My husband and I have no children of our own, but feel blessed to be able to sponsor a number of children through Compassion International. The letters you receive from your child will bless you in return. It is an amazing organization where you can feel confident that the money you donate is going for the purpose you intended. Thank you Compassion for all that you do and for caring and allowing us to care through you!

Our sponsorship experience

My wife and I looked forward to each letter watching our sponsored child grow older. When the 2009 earthquakes hit Haiti we were so afraid and concerned for this childs welfare. We phoned Compassion and they worked very hard to find some answers for us. When we found out that she was O.K. we were so relieved. To watch her grow from a 7 yr old kid into a beautiful young lady was amazing. She has a plan for her life and an education to help her achieve her goals. We were truly blessed to help.

I'm So Impressed.....

As a long-term sponsor, I have gotten to know Compassion and their work very well. I've visited two of my sponsor children, seen for myself how Compassion works through local churches, and seen my sponsor kids grown into self-sufficient Christian adults. The more I learn about Compassion, the more impressed I am. God is working mightily through Compassion and the sponsors!

How long should my child sponsorship last?

Compassion child sponsorship offers you the opportunity to stay with a child for a number of years, usually through the school year in which the child reaches the age of 18 to 22 (varies by country). While we hope that you will be able to continue in your support of your sponsored child until he or she completes the Compassion program, we recognize that sponsors' circumstances sometimes change. You may discontinue your sponsorship at any time.

Will I be the only person sponsoring the child I'm helping?

Yes. The child you're helping has just one sponsor: you. That's why your prayers, letters and support mean so much to your sponsored child. Even if you choose to sponsor a child as a family or a group (for example, a youth group or a Sunday school class), the child you help will still be relating to your family or group as his or her only sponsor. No other group or individual will also sponsor the child you help.

Will my child write to me?

Your child will write at least twice a year — and up to six depending on the frequency of your letters. As your exchange of letters with the child you sponsor grows over the years, you can build a scrapbook of letters and photos from your child. Your scrapbook will serve as a constant reminder of the relationship you've developed with the child you're helping and of how you've contributed to his or her growth.
