Malaria Intervention - Compassion International

When you give a malaria donation, your money goes to help the world's most vulnerable citizens ... children living in poverty. Your malaria donation through Compassion's Malaria Intervention fund will help save lives. Your money provides children and their families with insecticide-treated mosquito nets, health care and education about the disease.

Children who live in poverty already face extremely difficult odds of survival. Without your malaria donation, the odds of survival are even smaller. Your donation will provide a child in poverty with a bed net treated with insecticide to prevent mosquito bites.

Malaria is an easily preventable, treatable disease, yet when malaria goes untreated, cerebral malaria can develop in as little as two days. When this happens, a child can slip into a coma and eventually die. Your malaria donation to Compassion's Malaria Intervention fund can prevent this tragic and totally unnecessary situation.

Prevenitng malaria is so easy, its almost a no-brainer. Give a malaria donation today and give a child in poverty one less burden to bear.

Malaria Intervention Donate to Prevent Malaria in Children

Malaria kills one child every thirty seconds. An $18 donation can help change this statistic.

How Does Compassion Fight Malaria?

Transmitted through mosquito bites, malaria is both treatable and preventable. Through the Malaria Intervention fund, Compassion is able to save lives by providing:

  • Mosquito bed nets treated with insecticide
  • Education to help children and families protect themselves from malaria
  • Anti-malarial drugs, IV medication, transfusions, and breathing treatments
  • Resources to clean mosquito breeding grounds, such as ponds and standing water bodies

A one-time donation of $18 will help save the life of one child. Give today to provide a swarm of protection and hope against this deadly disease!

WHERE DOES YOUR MONEY GO?

  • 3,000 children die every day because of malaria
  • 655,000 estimated number of deaths from malaria in 2010
  • 1 in 5 child deaths in Africa are attributed to malaria

How One Compassion Program is Biting Back Against Malaria

To combat malaria in Awassa, the local Compassion child development center distributed mosquito nets provided by Compassion’s Malaria Prevention fund. The center also presents annual training sessions that teach families how to protect themselves from malaria. Every three months, a cleaning project is organized to clean areas around Lake Hawassa to prevent mosquito breeding.

Before the distribution of malaria nets, there were 28 cases of malaria reported among children at the development center. Today, there’s not a single case of malaria present. That’s the power of your donation!
