Brazil truly is a beautiful place to visit. Its warm water and soft, sandy beaches are a favorite for tourists who travel here. The bustling city of Fortaleza is another dynamic reason for which this country really shines. Drawn by the festivals of Carnival, historical buildings and artifacts, the diversity and vibrant energy make the city come alive to locals and tourists alike! What a beautiful location to host our trip and meet the children and families of the 4th largest city in Brazil.
Rest assured, alongside the beautiful is the sobering reality of a country struggling with poverty. We plan to exist in both worlds to understand the full need in the community and the life-changing work of the local Church as they are partner with Compassion. Come see just how pivotal your work as a sponsor is in the development of Brazil’s little ones.
On this trip you can expect to:
- Spend an entire day with your sponsored child
- See multiple Child Development Centers where Compassion children attend
- Meet current Leadership Development Students attending local University
- See the sights and wonders that make Brazil such a beautiful and unique place to visit
- Visit the heartbeat of the ministry: the incredible families, pastors, staff workers, and volunteers of Compassion’s program.

Day 1: Starting Out
We depart from Miami at 8:50am on TAM Airlines flight #8043 to Fortaleza, Brazil. We will meet each other at the international terminal and board the plane with expectation and excitement. Once we arrive, we’ll meet our incredible country staff and proceed to the hotel to rest for the trip ahead!
Day 2-4: Connecting with Compassion & Children
Over the next couple days we will visit nearby Child Development Centers and meet the staff and children who attend there. What an incredible opportunity to play and share life together. Our time will be all about understanding more of Compassion’s program and what part you play in rescuing children from poverty as committed sponsors. We will have the opportunity to meet the brave women and their beautiful babies from our Child Survival Program – this experience will remind you that we are not only developing children but intervening with education and care when children are most vulnerable – as little ones. Interact and hear the hearts of these moms as you soak up quality time and experience a “Day in the Life” with them at their homes. We will also hear from university students in our Leadership Development Program. Listen as they share their testimonies of how Compassion is changing their lives and developing future leaders.
Day 5: Country Office Visit
Today we will visit the country office in Fortaleza and meet the incredible country staff who work tirelessly, day in and day out, to translate and send your letters, develop the vision and scope of where we will grow across the country, and support the work of Compassion in the field. You will have an education of the inner-workings of how we implement our Holistic Development Program and learn more than you could ever expect!
Day 6: Child Fun Day!
Today you'll spend a very special day filled with laughter, hugs, and fun with the incredible child you sponsor. We have a special day planned that you and your sponsored child will never forget. This is what you've waited for! So, treasure every moment and be prepared for God to move your heart in ways you never anticipated!
Day 7: Brazilian Cultural Day
On our final day in country, we want to explore more of the amazing country of Brazil. Today’s excursion will include historical landmarks, authentic meals, handicraft market shopping and a beautiful, final debriefing to share moments and memories from our trip over dinner.
Day 8: Returning Home
We depart in the morning on TAM Airlines flight #3830 at 10:50 AM to return to Miami and catch our connections home to friends and family. We arrive into Miami at 6:20 PM and say goodbye to our newfound family. What an incredible experience we’ve shared!
In order to ensure our children's protection and determine eligibility to travel with Compassion, we now require all travelers (over the age of 18) to complete a criminal background check to ensure the safety of the children in our programs.

If you are unable to complete this online, please contact us and we will send you a paper form for you to fill out and return.
